On and on
and over and over
and day after day
I think about you --
Though day after day
and little by little
and step by step
I'm forgetting about you --
If we met this straight on face to face
If we recall our every word, word for word,
All in all
And out and out
It's over --
between me and you
Smile after smile and kiss after kiss
We wound round our bleakness our own sort of bliss
We were acting at love, using all the right words
While so much was unsaid, so much didn't dare be heard
I've known so many lives built round such a lie
And their homes, and their families too,
And they crumble and they perish in the rain
Of all their guilt and all their pain
For that I'm glad, for that I feel free
That I'm free of you
And you're finally free of me
Though on and on
And over and over
And day after day
I think about you
hour after hour . . .
minute by minute . . .
and year after year
I'll think about you . . .

Listener comments:
Thank you for sharing. Break ups are sad, they really tug at the heart even if we know it has to be. Super nice of Brian to be sensitive to this girl.
Debra L., Montreal
Painful, lyrical song. Reminds me of [Bob Dylan's] "If you see her, say hello".
Ross M., Toronto
I really like the build up towards the end of the song, and the way you ended the song was amazing. Thank you.
- Kaoru M., Montreal
What a truly wonderful song. Right after I heard it the first time, I had to hear it again! That's the sign of a good song, for me anyway.
- Michael C., Toronto
Very moving and heartfelt.
- Cathy W., Montreal
I think this song is wonderful. I love the melody, the chords, the words and your heartfelt performance. It is VERY touching. I can easily imagine this song in a film, perhaps as the two lovers part for what we know will be the last time. And/or as the credits roll at the end a wonderful, sad love story. Big congratulations.
- D. Faria, Montreal
